Pamela Martin provides us with a richly-layered text which explores the irony of a sovereign God powerless to quench His own thirst.  With the plethora of Holy Week offerings, it is refreshing to find an anthem with such a unique approach to the crucifixion.  This will make a profound addition to any Maundy Thursday or Good Friday service.
